dark side of bright world

Themes and Inspiration
The exhibition addresses critical social issues such as molestation, domestic violence, and gender-based violence, highlighting real-life stories and the silent struggles faced by many. The featured works portray both personal and collective traumas, aiming to bring awareness and provoke meaningful conversations around these issues.
"The world, although well-lighted with fluorescents and incandescent bulbs and neon, is still full of odd dark corners and unsettling nooks and crannies."
― Stephen King, Fire starter
About the Exhibition
Originally exhibited in 2020 as an independent student project, Dark Side of Bright World was a visual exploration of the contrast between beauty and darkness in our world. Captured in Tartu and Tallinn, these artworks delved into the hidden, often painful realities that exist within our seemingly illuminated surroundings. Through photography, digital art, and painting, I presented both the mesmerizing allure of nature and the haunting narratives of human suffering.
Artworks
This exhibition was a visual exploration of the contrast between beauty and darkness. It captured moments of serene natural beauty while also confronting harsh social realities. The first half of the exhibition highlighted the tranquil and fleeting beauty of nature, showcasing vibrant landscapes, shifting seasons, and quiet cityscapes. These images served as a reminder of the world’s splendor, often overlooked in daily life. In contrast, the second half of the exhibition confronted difficult societal issues, such as domestic violence, gender-based oppression, and emotional trauma. Through conceptual imagery and symbolic storytelling, these works shed light on experiences often hidden in the shadows, encouraging reflection and awareness. While the original artworks are no longer available to view, their narratives remain.
